We recently had a request from CHipping Area Over Sixties (CHAOS) for a hand with something, we are more than happy to support an amzing group of dedicated locals with such a worthwhile appeal. Read on...

An Appeal for CHAOS

You have probably heard of CHAOS, the working name for the Chipping Voluntary Old People Welfare Committee (reg no. 513235). The name CHAOS was derived from CHipping Area Over Sixties and has become rather better known than our full charity commission registered name. The CHAOS committee organise a Christmas party( for over a hundred people), a day out during the summer that includes a meal and usually entry to an attraction somewhere and a number of shopping trips throughout the year. We also run a bus to ASDA (provided free of charge by Brethertons Gold Line Travel) usually on the first Friday of the month for those who cannot or prefer not to drive in heavy traffic.

Anyone over sixty living in Chipping, Leagram, Little Bowland, Chaigley orThornley can come on our events, and if only one of a partnership is over sixty we allow both to come, and anyone who had to move away from these areas into sheltered accommodation can still come.

So you see, theres a lot happening for a lot of people. All this takes planning and organising and we have a wonderful committee who give up their time to help, bake cakes, serve at the party and carry out all manner of tasks.

BUT, our committee are mostly over sixty themselves, and dare I say it, some are well over. We have already had to stop one of our main fund raisers, our popular car boot stall at Chipping Steam Fair. It had become too big an ask, not just on the day helping but setting up, gathering stuff and organising cover and then finally clearing up afterwards. Its a great shame we had to do this but it just got too much for us.

We need younger people with new ideas, new visions who will make sure that the older generations in our village and surrounding area continue to enjoy what we offer

If we dont get some younger people stepping up to join the CHAOS committee and taking over the helm, in time CHAOS will cease to exist.

So, if you want to know more or know ANYONE who might be willing to join us please give me call on 01995 61586
